| Pups will be AKC registered, microchipped, wormed at regular intervals, and vaccinated. We are dedicated to plenty of early socialization. | ||||||||

| We are still awaiting the DNA parentage results. | ||||||||
| The puppies turned 6 weeks old today, and it was a big day for them. For the third time they had their nails trimmed and were wormed. They also took a long ride (2.5 hours) to visit Dr. Johnson, Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist. | ||||||||
| Kismet, Fate, Karma, Reason and Marvel were found to have normal Left and Right eyes. Click on their names to access their CERF result form. | ||||||||
| Brazen, Destiny and Chance were found to have choroidal hypoplasia in Left and Right eyes. They were found NOT to have colobomas in either Left or Right eye. This means that the CH lesions will not progress and they have normal vision now and will always have normal vision (specific to CEA). It is only if they present with colobomas that there would be a chance for a retinal rupture at some point in the future. None of the pups have colobomas. Dr. Johnson added notes in the comments boxes specifically stating that these pups do not have, nor will develop vision impairments. | ||||||||
| The results from the CERF exams for Brazen, Destiny and Chance imply that Sage is their sire. Because there is always a chance for multiple sires if the dam was exposed to more than one male during estrus, I must still wait for the DNA parentage results to confirm the sire for all the puppies. Since I happen to own three adoring, intelligent and splendid pups out of Sage (Boon, Moxie and Poshie), and since Belle has such a sweet disposition and is a lovely dog in many ways, I am not disappointed that Sage is the sire, albeit, I would not have done the breeding based on the CEA DNA status of Sage and Belle. . | ||||||||
| I must say I was educated today at Dr. Johnson's office regarding the difference between choroidal hypoplasia and colobomas associated with the CH. He pointed to a chart of "The Dog's Eye" that was hanging on the wall and explained the situation in detail to me. I had to ask him several times to reiterate that none of the pups would present with vision issues in the future, which is why he added the notes to the comments section on their CERF report forms, for me. They have normal vision now and will have normal vision (unless they experience some issue that is unrelated to CEA, of course). | ||||||||
| 12/29/09 Update: The DNA results arrived and excluded Boon and Switch as additional sires of the litter. The litter has been registered. | ||||||||

| $200 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a puppy until it is ready to go home. No money is required to submit an application, it is only necessary to reserve a puppy after the application is approved. | Smooth vs. Rough coat cannot be determined until around 5-6 weeks old. There is no guarantee regarding the coat length. There is no guarantee as to the ear set of a puppy, as it is impossible to discern in young puppies. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If
you have very specific expectations regarding markings and coat type,
sending a deposit (after the application is approved) will give you a higher
rank when the puppies are chosen around six weeks of age.
No puppy can leave DarnFar Ranch until it is 8 weeks of age. |

| Approved puppy buyers may come and see the litter once they are 5 weeks old. Please do not request a visit before that time. If you are planning to come prior to the pick up date to choose your puppy, we recommend you come no earlier than 6 weeks of age, as before then they simply don't have as much personality and they fall asleep quickly after playing for a short time. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If you have a high ranking on the pick order list and do not plan to come for your puppy until it is ready to go home at 8 weeks old, you may be asked to make your decision from remote. This is to permit others, who have a lower ranking on the pick list, to choose and come for their puppies before, perhaps, you intend to arrive to take home your puppy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
