Baxter, a mini-aussie, arrived with some fear and anxiety issues. His insecurities stem from never knowing what is expected of him. To rehabilitate Baxter, he is taught how to sit-no-matter-what at a high standard and then presented with distractions, at which time, he is asked to sit. The same scenario is repeated with heeling on a leash - he is taught to walk properly and then presented with situations that draw out his "fight / flight" (anti-social) response. As long as the handler remains calm, consistent, and persistent, Baxter will quickly overcome his issues and become calm and relaxed because he can rely on his handler to "lead" him through situations that, previously, frightened him.
