Overview: |

|
|

|
|
| |
|
Our
comprehensive one day workshops are offered to
dog owners of any level of training. Beginners and
experienced dog handlers can benefit from the
information and training opportunities which are rarely
presented in many advanced classes. |
|
|
|
Many owners
complain that they simply do not have the time to take
their dog to an 8 or 12 week class, or their schedules
do not coincide with lesson times. Some do not have
the resources to take advantage of our highly successful
Board & Train option. |
|
|
|
A Workshop
is a great option for folks who have taken a Beginner
class or have brought their dog to our Board & Train
program in the past, but would like a refresher at any
time in the future. |
|
|
|
We have
developed a one day workshop that covers all of
the most frequently used commands like sit, down, stay,
heel and come as well as typical manners issues like
waiting at the door, jumping up and going after things
like food or small animals (the "leave it"
exercise).
And, you can count on us to help you establish very high
standards of behavior for your dog which will result in
reliable responses to the commands, even in the presence
of distractions. |
|
|
|
The One Day
Workshop is also the first step in training your dog as
a Therapy Dog. You may find more about our
Therapy Dog program
here. |
|
|
|
Interesting
lectures about training philosophies and canine
psychology are also included in the workshop. |
|
|
|
When we
train a dog, we do not teach the sit one week, then wait
another week to teach down, and wait another week to
teach the recall command. But, that is how many 8 or 10
week classes are structured. We typically teach all of
the basic commands to a dog in one day - then, we do the
necessary practice on a daily basis. Our One Day
Workshops present the philosophy and the hands-on
training in one day, in much the same way that we
approach teaching our own and client dogs. You will
learn how we successfully teach dog to be well mannered,
socially compliant and happy. |

- The
goal of the course is to educate dog owners how to
train their own dogs as well as to provide them with
all of the information they will need to continue
their dog's training at home.
|
-
This is a hands-on class. Bring your dog and be
ready to see him transform before your very eyes
into a compliant, happy companion.
|
-
Workshops are limited to 8 participants in order to
provide sufficient one-on-one time to all
participants.
|
-
Dogs six months and older are
welcome to attend the Workshops. If your dog is
under six months, you may want to consider a
"New Puppy Consultation"
to get you jump started prior to entering a
Workshop.
|
-
Each dog must have a dedicated handler.
|
-
Participants in the class receive a certificate,
suitable for framing.
|
-
Workshop participation includes a 28 page booklet of
supplementary information, that can be used as a
valuable reference guide.

We understand
when unexpected circumstances prohibit a student from providing
us sufficient time to cancel their attendance in a Workshop. We
gladly transfer a Workshop entry to a future Workshop date.
However, because with little notice we are unable to fill the
training spot in the seminar, transferring an entry to a future
date is limited to one occurrence. |

After
attending a Workshop, Carl & Diane from Chicago wrote: |
|
Just a
quick note to tell you how much both Diane and I enjoyed
the class on Saturday. The day flew by and there was
just so much great stuff in your presentation and
exercises. Everything was so well planned and carried
out and fun. We talked about everything on the trip back
home…. Did you see how Ellie did this, did you see how
Hope reacted….boy didn't that make a lot of sense what
Tammie said about this and so forth. It has been a long
time since Both Meg and Sugar had gone to an 8 week
puppy class at a place around our home and that didn't
even come close to what you offer.
Every
part of the class was so informative, interesting and
fun, your passion for what you are doing really came
through loud and clear as well as your deep knowledge
and years of experience. I know on you website you say
at the end of the day you will take home a new dog and
that is true, while I can't speak for everyone I can
honestly say that our dogs also took home new guardians.
We understand that the ball is in our court now and all
the information in the world means nothing unless we
follow through and use it. We are diligently practicing
CIT MEANS SIT not only with Ellie and Hope but with Meg
and Sugar too, everyone is going to be on the same page.
All that
aside it was just plain nice to see you and Robert again
and hopefully there will be more opportunities to do
just that. We are sure glad to be part of the DarnFar
family. |
