Kael
I felt your soft fur brush against my leg
It was so real; the gentle touch of your hair
But, when I reached down to pet you
You simply were not there

I heard your soft snoring, deep in and out
As you lay, like always, next to my bed
But, when, with greater focus, I listened more
With sadness, I had been misled

I saw your figure lying under the table
Where, each day, you would watch for the birds
But, when, with desire, I gazed there again
I was at a sudden loss for words

The house is empty without you, sweet Kael
Yet, your presence is so real and so true
Such a happy and loving and kind dog you were
I promise to always remember you
